The Autobots race to reach their lost comrades before the Decepticons.
Synopsis
Depth Charge emerges from a transwarp portal above the prehistoric planet his targets are on. The sight of it inspires vague memories, leading Depth Charge to wonder just what else is on the planet...
At the Graviton, the Autobots find that three stasis pods, which were carrying experimental new Autobots, not yet brought online. Outfitted with transmitters, the Autobots will be able to find them...but so will the Decepticons. With their new alternate modes lacking in speed, Ultra Magnus has Prowl unload the sky-sled. Before they can even set off, however, the Decepticons fly overhead, destroying the sky-sled, and forcing the Autobots to stampede their way to the pods.
Unfortunately, the Autobots arrive to find Megatron and the other Decepticons. Megatron proceeds to activate the Autobots, having reprogrammed and reformatted them into loyal Decepticons: Scylla, Autojetter, and Autolauncher. Ultra Magnus tries to appeal to the former Autobots inner goodness, but the three unleash their combined weaponry upon him, taking him out of the fight. Grimlock refuses to run, but Autolauncher blasts him back, as Autojetter takes out the remaining three. Before they can be finished off, Depth Charge emerges from re-entry, transforming and taking down some of the Decepticons. Megatron blasts him in the back, enraged that this unknown combatant has attempted to steal his victory from him. Fortunately for him, Magnus has recovered, and uses his Blue Bolts cannon to blast the Decepticons back. Magnus orders the Autobots to return to base, and attempts to talk to their mysterious savior. Depth Charge, mistakenly believing the Autobots to be Maximals, reveals that he's here to talk about a few things, first and foremost of which is saving the multiverse!

- —Megatron
"You are unknown to me, worthless little bug. And to interfere with my plans is not a welcomed introduction. Now I'll pull your spark out and show it to you."
- —Megatron is upset at Depth Charge.
Notes
Continuity notes
- Upon seeing Earth, Depth Charge recalls dim memories. This might have something to do with the origin given for Beast Wars: Uprising in "A Change to the Agenda", which posited it as a universe created when both Prime and Megatron were taken offline aboard the Ark during the Beast Wars. Not that it really mattered to the majority of stories from that universe...
- The Autobots attempt to use a sky-sled to reach the stasis pods, originally seen in issue #75 of the Marvel The Transformers comic.
Transformers references
- The stasis pods and experiment bodies are obviously based on the stasis pods seen in the Beast Wars cartoon, the experimental bodies being a version of protoforms, which has been depicted as an evolutionary leap that would not be achieved until the advent of the Maximals and Predacons. Evidently, the Autobots of the Classicsverse were working a bit earlier than most universes. Their conversion into Decepticons is presumably achieved via a shell program, as was the case with Blackarachnia and Inferno in the Beast Wars cartoon, Maximal protoforms turned into Predacons.
- New names Magnus tries for the Autobots include Anibots, prototypical versions of the Predacons from an early script for The Transformers: The Movie, and Biocombatants, after the Italian name for the Beast Wars toyline, Biocombat.
- Prowl uses hics, a unit of measurement introduced in Marvel UK annual story, "The Magnificent Six!".
- Scylla, Autojetter, and Autolauncher all come from Beast Wars II.
- Depth Charge swears by the Pit, the Cybertronain analog for Hell originally mentioned in the Beast Wars cartoon.
- Magnus' weapon of choice is called the "Blue Bolts Cannon," named for the weapon carried by Robots in Disguise Ultra Magnus.
Errors
- The chapter title is missing. It was later revealed on the forum site Allspark by Jesse Wittenrich.
- Depth Charge is depicted as roughly normal Cybertronian-size, about half the height of Ultra Magnus; being a Maximal, he shouldn't even reach Magnus' knees.
