Optimus, Goldbug, and Lockdown hang out on the back page.

Synopsis

On the back page of the latest issue of the Hasbro Transformers Collectors' Club magazine, Optimus Prime, Goldbug, and Lockdown find themselves hanging out in the city. Goldbug is confused, while Lockdown wonders why he has to be there with two Autobots. Optimus Prime declares they have something important to talk about: the comic in the magazine made him into a good guy! Prime is furious, declaring they'd never do that to an evil Megatron. When Goldbug points out to an incredulous Optimus Prime that they did, Prime tries to say they'd never do that to an evil Starscream, only for Lockdown to point out that they did that as well. Prime declares that, regardless of those examples, he plans to use the back of this magazine to remain evil! Goldbug compliments Prime's idea, causing Optimus to thank him, only to rendered speechless when Lockdown points out that saying "thank you" isn't very evil.

Transformers references

• SD SG is inspired by the Q-Transformers: Mystery of Convoy Returns online cartoon, a series of comedic, fourth-wall breaking shorts. This strip, in particular, is a pastiche of the series main concept, which features super-deformed versions of the Age of Extinction incarnations of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Lockdown, hanging out at highway service stations and talking about bad video games. In homage to the cartoon's limited animation, the characters all stand in static poses, with the panels featuring Prime's shocked expression featuring a close-up of his face with "anime motion-blur" lines. There's no real continuity to these strips, although several of the characters seen in them would be ported over to the main Shattered Glass continuity.
• Lockdown is a "virtual retool" of Generations Thrilling 30 Trailbreaker, with a head based on his Animated counterpart, and a color scheme inspired by a sheriff van seen in the 2006-2012 television series Eureka.
• As Prime notes, the main version of Shattered Glass Optimus became good in "Out of the One, Many", reformatted by Unicron into Nova Prime. The original IDW Generation 1 continuity's version of Megatron became an Autobot in "season two" of More than Meets the Eye, while the incarnation of Starscream from the Armada cartoon became a conflicted warrior with a heroic streak in the second half of the series, even briefly joining the Autobots.
• Barely visible in the second-to-last panel is an advert behind Goldbug, featuring juiceboxes with Kremzeek on them. The impish energy being was introduced in the Sunbow The Transformers cartoon episode of the same name. Beverages with Kremzeek on them as a "mascot" have been seen as easter eggs ever since Dreamwave's Generation One ongoing comic, but juiceboxes with Kremzeek on them were specifically seen in More than Meet the Eye, a favorite of Roller's. Other signs on the wall (as revealed by Perez on Twitter) include ads for energon goodies (from The Transformers: The Movie) and energon pizza (a reference to an original character created by Perez, a chef who created energon versions of Earth food).
