Fiction

Beast Wars: Uprising

Manticon served as military commander for Queen Rage in the occupied territories of "Rageland". They defended their own lands and people during the Vehicon Apocalypse, as well as many refugees who spilled in from outlying regions. When the queen's adviser Flytrap suggested abandoning the half-Maximal city-state of Praxus to focus on their consolidated Predacon polities, Manticon spoke out against allowing the Vehicons more fodder for their reformatting.

Despite it all, Manticon and Rageland's military were pushed back, ever back, in their defense. They hunkered down behind the walls of Triax, but even that fortification was eventually breached. Eventually, only the royal palace offered safety for military and civilian alike. As the Vehicons even breached those walls in time, Queen Rage nearly fell to their conversion, exhausted by the mega-cycles of resistance. Manticon struck in defense of his queen, but turned his back on the enemy to help her up and was impaled by a Vehicon blade. As he converted into a tank drone, Manticon was prepared to complete the execution of Rage he had prevented moments ago. At that moment, however, Galva Convoy sent the signal calling the Vehicons to Iacon, and so Manticon was left the last casualty of the siege of Triax. Derailment

Notes

  • At some point during the planning for Beast Wars Telemocha Series, the idea was tossed around to create some brand new toys for the line. Internal TakaraTomy documents include designs for a jellyfish, a manticore, and a triffid. The manticore was later characterized by Beast Wars: Uprising.
