The Air Commander serves as the leader of the fliers of a Transformer military, mostly of the Decepticons.

According to G1 Blitzwing's Tech Spec, he's both a Ground Commander and an Air Commander, though this is actually a typographical error corrected later in other merchandise as "Ground and Air Commando".
