BotCon Japan 1998 was held on December 12-13, 1998, in Tokyo, Japan. It was organized by Fumihiko Akiyama.

Each of the two toys was limited to 600 copies.

This convention saw the public debut of the prototype for the upcoming Metalforce Optimus Prime vinyl figure. Back then, it actually looked kinda cool. Kinda.
