Inyokern is a region in eastern California. It is mostly rocky with some cacti and other desert plants. Presumably, it's a sufficiently out-of-the-way place for a secret organization to put their base.

The Initiative's mobile base was located in a desolate part of Inyokern during an operation at Kingdom Petrochemicals. Given Kingdom Petrochemicals was in Florida, this seems like a long way to go. Nefarious #1 Soundwave eventually discovered the location of the base by tracking Ravage. He attempted to assault the base with some other Decepticons, but the Initiative unleashed a number of brainwashed Transformers to attack him. Nefarious #4 The Initiative subsequently packed up their mobile base and left for Oregon. When Soundwave returned with a bunch of Autobots as backup, they found the place deserted. Nefarious #5
