Dark Eggleo is a Predacon Egg Beast from the Beast Wars portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Dark Eggleo (ダークエッグレオ Dāku Eggureo) is a strange little critter with a bizarre altmode and a set of very evil teeth, with which he supports the Predacons through biting. Like many evil Cybertronic cats, he is an expert saboteur and among the oldest known Predacons.

Dark Eggleo was a sleeper agent of Unicron, inserted into Predacon society. Like all the Egg Beasts, his alternate forms bore many similarities to Unicron's own structure. Unicron would reuse his design for the Sparkbot Angela. Ask Vector Prime, 2015/09/29

Generations Selects Special Comic

In 2011, Unicron fought against the combined Autobot and Decepticon attempt to seal him into the Triple Z Point by reconstructing himself from a cadre of disciples that included Dark Eggleos. Super Megatron comic 1

Dark Eggleo transforms from a mechanical sphere (ostensibly an "egg" mode) into a lion. He is cast in translucent dark green plastic except for a handful of chromed and die-cast parts. He has a non-removable keychain attached to his robot mode back (well, you can remove it if you bend the metal attaching ring).

The Egg Beasts were late (and low-run) additions to the Takara Beast Wars line, and as such demand a higher price tag than one would expect at first.

This mold is a retooling of the 1988 Takara Mashin Hero Wataru "Jaleon" toy, giving him a new loop for his attached keychain. The Wataru toy was a retool of the Micro Change MC-15 toy.

The original Micro Change toy also included a base, as well as 2 guns that could be plugged in to the back of the mane in lion configuration. These were excluded for all Transformers releases.

This mold was also used to make Eggleo and Kiss Players Angela.

Notes

• A use of the Eggleo mold was initially planned to act as "Unicron's subordinate's subordinate" (ユニクロン手下の手下). This is perhaps why the Egg Beasts were used as servants of Unicron in later fiction.
