A reversion device is an Energon-powered superweapon created by the Vok to wipe all life from a planet and restart their nefarious experiments in the event of excessive external contamination.

Fiction

2021 IDW Beast Wars comic

As the Vok had done before on other worlds, they installed a reversion device as a failsafe in their latest experiment, concealing it within one of the planet's many flying mountains. The End

When the Maximals and Predacons landed on the Vok's planet, the Predacon starship Darksyde crashed close to the reversion device. Seeking to increase their supply of energon crystals, Terrorsaur and Waspinator mined some of the reversion device's fuel. Pod Part 1 When the Maximals later attacked the Darksyde, Terrorsaur picked up Razorbeast and dropped him atop the largest of the reversion device's energon crystals, causing a large explosion. Maximals Strike Back, Part 2

Despite the damage, the reversion device remained online. Upon deeming the Cybertronians too disruptive an element to tolerate, Pakak, Tonrar and Tikaani decided to active their superweapon and sterilize the planet. Before the weapon could fire, the Vok were destroyed by Rattrap and Waspinator aboard the Axalon. When the Predacons later questioned interim leader Blackarachnia regarding the viability of her plan to repair the Darksyde, she noted that the now inert reversion device might serve as a useful supply of spare parts.
