The "Maximals" run into trouble while retreating.
Synopsis
The Autobots retreat as the Decepticons chase after them; Megatron's ranting inspires the newly online Decepticon Autolauncher to dub themselves as "Predacons." Magnus transforms to robot mode to cover the others; he orders newcomer Depth Charge to go with them, but the stranger refuses, not least because of his damaged flight systems. Unfortunately for the Autobots, their escape route leads them to a cliff, with the only way across being a narrow rock bridge. As they run across, Megatron transforms and attacks Magnus, laughing at the Autobots persistence. As the Decepticon leaders bashes into him, taunting him for being an "arrogant Autobot", Magnus declares himself a "Maximal", Depth Charge's appellation for his group, and confirms that his team made it across. Magnus destroys the bridge from underneath them with his bare hands, blasting Megatron with his cannon into the canyon below, and uses the blast's momentum and his jets to return to the others. The Maximals flee, while down below, the Predacons watch as Megatron breaks his way through the rubble. Megatron's anger turns to elation upon looking up at the canyon wall, where a face covered into the rock begins to chip away, revealing a metallic surface underneath...
Back at the Graviton, Depth Charge tells the Maximals his story. Long ago on a different Cybertron, he fought many battles with another group known as the Maximals. More recently, on another alternate Cybertron, he was recruited by the native Transformers, who dedicate themselves to guarding the multiverse, to find a power source that can help stop the current destruction ravaging parts of the multiverse. Depth Charge calls this power source a Matrix; Magnus balefully tells him that the Creation Matrix was destroyed when Optimus Prime defeated Unicron. Depth Charge proceeds to clarify several things; when they and the Decepticons went through the portal, they arrived on an Earth different from the one they knew, and that he is looking for another Matrix entirely...

Quotes
"Chase them! Stalk them! Tear them apart! We are the fiercest of predators, and you are nothing but shrieking prey!"
- —Megatron
"Say hello to the Pit for me, Megatron!"
- —Ultra Magnus
"By the Pit, it's like talking to a case fresh protoform."
- —Depth Charge has trouble delivering exposition.
Notes
- Characters mentioned include: Optimus Prime and Unicron.
Continuity notes
- Depth Charge recalls fighting alongside his home dimension's Maximals; this aligns with the original description of the Beast Wars: Uprising world (as it would be latter known) in Blackarachnia's profile in issue #25 of the Club magazine, although later expansions on the universe would change these early details.
- Depth Charge was sent to this world by the TransTech in "Invasion: Epilogue", after the cataclysmic fallout that resulted from the events of BotCon 2012's "Invasion".
- Optimus destroyed Unicron with the Matrix in issue #75 of the original Marvel The Transformers comic.
Transformers references
- The rock bridge, along with Megatron and Magnus' fight on it, is a homage to the battle between Optimus Primal and Dinobot from the second episode of Beast Wars.
- Magnus tells Megatron to say hello to the Pit (see "quotes" above); the Pit is the Transformer version of Hell, originally mentioned in the Beast Wars cartoon.
- The face in the canyon wall is that of the Vok, the enigmatic aliens from the Beast Wars cartoon.
Errors
- Not really an error at the time of release, but the reason why Depth Charge calls the Autobots Maximals is because they remind him of his world's version of Maximals, presumably due to their beast modes. The main Beast Wars: Uprising fiction, however, would have it so that the Maximals and Predacons of Depth Charge's world would not gain beast modes until long after he had left.
