Apeljnq was the leader of the Maximals on their homeworld - until [[Unicron]] showed up. To prevent it from falling into the hands of the [[Terrorcon (ROTB)|Terrorcons]], Apelinq entrusted it to [[Optimus Primal (ROTB)|Optimus Primal]], and named him the new leader of the Maximals. Apelinq, a big gorilla who wields arm blades in battle, was the Maximal leader before Optimus Primal.
