The name or term "Glide" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Glide (disambiguation).
Glide is an Autobot Micromaster from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Not Night Ranger, but enjoys motorin' nonetheless.

Glide (グライド Guraido) is having a lot of fun while he's stationed on Earth. Easy-going and cheerful, he's often found cruising the streets in his sleek vehicle mode, gathering intelligence on enemy actions... and offering rides to pretty human women. He insists it's all part of the job, and is utterly dependable in combat, so he usually doesn't get much grief for his behavior.

Fiction

Micromaster

Like most of the Turbo Team, Glide was infected with the mind changer virus, presumably through contact with Road Police, Circuit, Neo-Wheel, or Discharge. The virus turned him into a Decepticon, and he went about causing random destruction with his teammates. Sireen tricked Glide and the others into combining with him to form Sixturbo, then restored them all to normal with an anti-virus program. Enter the Urban Disaster Relief Specialists!!

Glide was later present as part of Sixturbo when the Autobots first confronted Sixwing Berserker Mode. Enter the Decepticon Sixwing!!

Later still, Road Police and Glide's investigation of a mysterious Decepticon attack led to the discovery of Decepticon Sixbuilder. Sixbuilder the Ill-Fated Warrior!?

Operation Combination

Years later, Glide and the rest of the Six-team Micromasters joined Guard City and the Road Corps in defending Earth from the forces of the Decepticon High Regent Scrash. Operation Combination

None of the combiner team individuals ever actually show up as individuals, only as components of the combined robot modes.

Toys

Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers

Secretly wants to join the Astro Squad.
  • Sixturbo (Micromaster Six-Team, 1992)
  • ID number: TF-03
Released in the Operation Combination portion of Takara's Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers toyline, Glide transforms into a racing motorcycle of undetermined model. He can also form the chest or back of any of the similar-build Six-Teams (Sixbuilder and Sixwing), though his nominal placement is as Sixbulder's back.
He was only available as part of a complete Sixturbo gift set, packed with his teammates Circuit, Discharge, Neo-Wheel, Road Police, and Sireen.
The original Six-Teams are considered among the more difficult Japanese Generation 1 pieces to find, due to their final-year release well after Transformers had faded from relevance in Japan, and thus command some hefty prices even with the molds' later re-releases.
This mold was also used to make Universe Groove.

Micromaster

  • Glide (Micromaster, 2002)
  • Sixturbo number: 2
  • Accessories: Sixturbo legs
In 2002, the entire Sixturbo team was re-released in the second wave of The Transformers: Micromaster, in individual boxes with a number visible to show which mold was inside each box. For this release, all of the decals from the original version were removed, and mostly replaced with paint applications, including several new bits of deco. Glide has only barely changed, mostly just having a simpler, no-red lightbar deco on his cowling while gaining silver on his tailpipes and an Autobot symbol. His gray plastic is also a slightly lighter shade.
On top of this, two out of every twelve toys in the shipping/display case were all-black-plastic, nigh-unpainted "Reverse Evolution"-mode chase figures with white Decepticon sigils. Even the combiner kibble was cast in black, albeit a little more dark-gunmetal.

Notes

  • Glide, like all of the six-team Micromasters, had no individual bio information whatsoever until his Micromaster release a decade after his original Operation Combination release.
