Though the planet would later be remembered as one of Cybertron's "thirteen colonies," closely associated with the Titans and Shockwave's Regenesis ores, Last Stand the inhabitants of Gorlam Prime were apparently unaware of their planet's dark history. Homecoming At some point in the recent past, Nova Prime's operative Jhiaxus arrived on the planet; in preparation for the Expansion of the Dead Universe, he began surreptitiously interfering with the development of the natives, Spotlight: Hardhead artificially accelerating their cultural and social development only a few years after the end of their Industrial Revolution.

When Nightbeat landed on the planet circa 2006, he was struck by the unexpected technological sophistication of the Gorlamites and their increasingly cybernetic bodies; an early clue that not all was as it seemed on the planet. Indeed, several Gorlamites had already reached the ultimate endpoint of their artificial evolution; in order to survive the hostile conditions of the coming Dead Universe, they had graduated to fully-robotic bodies, resembling small Transformers. In the meantime, Nightbeat returned to the planet, but found that the remaining Gorlamites had ground to a halt; a "chrysalis state" before the population completed its ultimate evolutionary transition. Spotlight: Hardhead After an unspecified amount of time had passed, the Gorlamites awoke in wholly mechanical bodies, having severed the last vestiges of their organic heritage, and redubbed their planet "Cybertron." "Cybertron" and its inhabitants enjoyed a brief period of prosperity, becoming known as one of the pinnacles of cyber-organic life in the galaxy, Heart of Darkness #1 but this peaceful period was not to last. When the malevolent D-Void awoke, it used the portal to the Dead Universe that lay beneath the planet to entrance the Gorlamites, luring them into the Dead Universe and feasting on their Sparks until none remained. The Gorlamites were once a race of organic humanoids. Over the centuries, however, they developed a culture of extreme augmentation and biomechanical synthesis, to the point where they eventually evolved into an entirely robotic species. Most Gorlamites preferred to stay on their homeworld; those that left were either researchers, philosophers seeking to understand their existence, or reckless thrill-seekers.
