TOMIX (トミックス) is the model train department of TakaraTomy's scale model-oriented subsidiary Tomytec. They are the largest model train manufacturer in Japan and a household name among model train hobbyists worldwide. When TakaraTomy's Transformers team secured the partnership of the Japanese Railway Group governing much of Japan's rail industry to launch the MPG with a line of fully licensed Trainbots, TOMIX were naturally consulted as the company railway experts. As the product line evolved, the consultation grew into a full-on collaboration between the two departments, and TOMIX is ultimately responsible for producing alternate modes that are not just accurate, but fully functional HO scale model trains.[1]
