- The Egg Beasts are a subgroup from the Beast Wars portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
The Egg Beasts (エッグビースト Eggubīsuto) are Predacons and Maximals that transform into, uh, eggs. Their other modes vary, being a lion, bird, or robot. They are among the oldest Transformers in the Beast Wars.
The Egg Beasts include:
Which ones are the Predacons seems obvious.
Fiction
Ask Vector Prime
The Egg Beasts were inserted into Maximal and Predacon society as sleeper agents by Unicron. Their alternate forms bore many similarities to Unicron's own structure. Unicron would reuse the same designs for the Sparkbots. The Dead End antibodies he employed also had overlapping hard-coded design schematics with the Egg Beasts. Ask Vector Prime, 2015/09/29
Generations Selects Special Comic
In 2011, Unicron fought against the combined Autobot and Decepticon attempt to seal him into the Triple Z Point by reconstructing himself from a cadre of disciples that included multiples of each Dark Eggbeast. Super Megatron comic 1

- The Egg Beasts transform from mechanical spheres into their various "beast" modes. They are cast in translucent plastic with a smattering of chromed and die-cast parts. They each feature a non-removable keychain (well, you can remove it if you bend the metal attaching ring).
- The Egg Beasts were late (and low-run) additions to the Takara Beast Wars line, and as such demand a higher price tag than one would expect at first.
- The Egg Beast molds are retoolings of a trio of 1988 Takara Mashin Hero Wataru toys to add loops for the aforementioned keychains. The Wataru toys were themselves retooled from the Micro Change "Meteor Robo" subgroup.
- The original Micro Change toys also included bases as well as guns that could be mounted in either configuration. These were excluded from all Mashin Hero Wataru and Transformers releases.
- These mold were subsequently used to make the Kiss Players Sparkbots.
Notes
- The molds used for the Egg Beasts originated as toys from the pre-Transformers Takara Micro Change line, where they were called "Meteor Robo". The keychains for the toys were added for their Beast Wars release, and were retained for the molds' use in Kiss Players.
