This article is about the Decepticon Micromaster. For the comic Autobot, see Flattop (Marvel).
Flattop is a Decepticon Micromaster from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Did his legs get cut off?

The scourge of the seven seas, Flattop sinks everything he encounters while fantasising about floating on a sea of burning Autobot fuel.

Fiction

[edit]

Marvel The Transformers comics

[edit]

Flattop was clearly notorious, as the Autobots built their own copy, also called Flattop! It's not a gaffe! #255's Dread Tidings

Dreamwave Generation One continuity

[edit]

Flattop's days are spent on long-term solo missions, flying sorties from his aircraft carrier and searching for targets (e.g., Autobots, fishing vessels, whales, fellow Decepticons he doesn't particularly like). When he finds one, he sets the carrier to attack on automatic, and then strafes from another direction. In the evenings he dreams of swimming in a sea of burning fuel and charred Autobot remains. Ah, simple pleasures. Flattop's More than Meets the Eye profile

Beast Wars: Uprising

[edit]

Flattop commanded the carrier Platonix on behalf of Banzai-Tron and the Builders' Navy in the battle of the Great Rust Sea at the Yuss Straits. When the subsea element of the Navy was overwhelmed by the Resistance due to their Beast Upgrades, one of the surviving Micromasters tried to clamber aboard the Platonix, but Flattop accidentally shot him before realizing friend from foe. Caught between a Resistance battleship above, and unknown dangers below, Flattop chose to abandon his post rather than remain, and converted his carrier to aerial mode to flee. Derailment

A jet that rides a jet... what?
  • Flattop (Micromaster Transport, 1989)
Released in the sixth year of the The Transformers toyline (fifth year in the European line), Flattop transforms into a purple-and-gray F4 Phantom fighter jet. He has functional landing gear wheels in the rear, but a peg in place of the front landing gear for use with two holes on the deck. Flattop is unusual for a Micromaster Transport in that he is not a "towing" vehicle with a large trailer accessory, but a fully-independent vehicle on his own with a fully-independent, non-towed aircraft carrier Transport. Unlike the other three transports, Flattop is drastically out of scale with his own transport, his jet cockpit almost being larger than the aircraft carrier's entire command tower.
The carrier vehicle transforms into an "interstellar jet"; Flattop can either clip into the cockpit area while standing or sit inside.
This toy was released in Japan without changes as the Autobot Skywave.
