Andrew Frankel is a former Hasbro designer.

He is known to have created the deco for numerous Transformers, particularly store exclusives.

Frankel had also previously worked on NASCAR, Jurassic Park, Batman, and Star Wars toylines. At one point he was brand manager of Hasbro's G.I. Joe line, and helped develop the two direct-to-video G.I. Joe CGI movies.

Between 2001 and 2002, Frankel edited the scripts for the 2001 Robots in Disguise cartoon cartoon series to include references to characters and events from earlier Transformers series, after the scripts had been submitted to Hasbro for broadcast approval. He was also credited as a creative consultant for the Armada and Energon cartoons.

Notes

[edit]
  • Like some others who have worked on the G.I. Joe and Star Wars toylines at Hasbro, Frankel's likeness was used as the inspiration for some action figures of both lines, in his case the headsculpts of the 3' 3/4 inch G.I. Joe Sideswipe and the Star Wars twelve-inch AT-ST driver figures. General Frankel, one of the infamous Jugglers, was also named after him.
  • Before working for Hasbro, Frankel was a frequent participant in online Transformers fandom discussions. He went by the nickname "Sideswipe" but was more commonly referred to as "Swiper".
