The electrostator is a device made to draw down all of the electrical potential of a lightning storm into one large bolt.

As part of a plan to create energon out of energy, Scorponok had Iguanus install an electrostator at the top of the Empire State Building, where it would draw the power of a thunderstorm created by the Decepticons' Stormmaker Station. The energy would then go through Manhattan's power grid and into a cable leading to the Decepticons' base. The process would have destroyed half of the city.

The plan was foiled when the Micromaster Roadhandler punched the electrostator off the Building's spire. Iguanus attempted to grab it midair but was struck by the gigantic thunderbolt, which sent him plummeting all the way to the ground. King Con!
