Alpha Trion leads his rebels in an attack on Shockwave's lab.

Synopsis

[edit]

At the Transwarp Complex, a guard tries to make conversation with his co-worker, who ignores most of his attempts at camaraderie. Suddenly, a blast engulfs the pair, killing them, as Alpha Trion enters with his group of rebels. Alpha Trion orders Skyfall, Landquake, and Immorticon to follow him, and sends Topspin, Nightscream, Blackarachnia, and Scavenger to the transit room, telling them to destroy anyone who gets in their way. Immorticon is suddenly blasted by Depth Charge, who radios in Alpha Trion's break-in. Suddenly, the TransTech is skewered by Alpha Trion, killing Depth Charge. Skyfall is uncomfortable, but Landquake told him that he knew there would be bloodshed, and Alpha Trion asks Skyfall if he understands the burden that Slaughter's sword thrusts upon him.

Shockwave is still in the process of vivisecting Breakaway, but Megatron orders the scientist to prepare for battle. As Alpha Trion enters the lab, he puts up his sword to defend himself from Megatron's blasts. Alpha Trion and Immorticon engage the TransTech, while Skyfall and Landquake go to free Breakaway. Megatron boasts that Trion will not live long enough to regret his attack, but the arrogance of the Decepticon allows Alpha Trion to slice right into Megatron. Breakaway, meanwhile, groggily acknowledges his friends. Landquake states that he will survive, but does not have the energy to heal himself, and that they must get him away from the fight to rest. Skyfall puts his forcefield up, ready to get out of this dimension.

Quotes

[edit]

"Did you hear what Soundwave said the other day? He—"
"No."
A pause.
"Do you want to go get a can of oil after our shift is over?"
"No."
"That's cool. Maybe some other time."
"Probably not."

— Unnamed Scooter and Cy-kill guard Shockwave's lab

"Do you see, Skyfall? Do you see the terrible burden I bear? What the sword makes me do?"

Alpha Trion is kind of not all there

"Prepare yourself for battle, Science Minister."

Megatron adds to Shockwave's job description

Transformers references

[edit]
  • Two TransTechs who strongly resemble Tonka's GoBots characters Cy-Kill and Scooter guard Shockwave's lab compound. They're unnamed.
    • Speaking of which, add another Cy-Kill death to the pile. Yay...
  • Scooter refers to a Soundwave. Presumably, this is a TransTech version of the character.
  • Immorticon, Scavenger, Blackarachnia, and Depth Charge are based on their unused Transtech designs, of course. Depth Charge's design was originally meant for his Beast Era counterpart. Alpha Trion's group, however, are actual Beast Era characters, using the bodies of their TransTech counterparts; Scavenger's design would go on to influence the Armada version of the character.

Other trivia

[edit]
  • Artist Evan Gauntt depicts Skyfall's force field as a series of interlocking hexagons, rather than the solid sphere that Dan Khanna drew.
  • The fan reaction to Cy-Kill and Scooter's deaths resulted in Pete Sinclair stating that this would be the last GoBot death scene in Fan Club works.[1] Eventually, some GoBots would die in "Cultural Appropriation", but there they were at least depicted as a threat and not a cameo killing.
  • A cropped image of TransTech Cy-Kill from this story was repurposed as an iteration of the original GoBots Cy-Kill in the Facebook edition of Ask Vector Prime and Renegade Rhetoric.
