Optimus Prime deals with Trion's assassination attempt, while the finally reunited Nexus Prime members attempt to revive Megatron.

Synopsis

In the wilderness of Cybertron, Optimus Prime demands Ricochet to verify the rumors of Megatron's assassination, telling his unbelieving bodyguard that his death changes everything. Suddenly, Warpath, Kup, Camshaft, and Hound drive up, despite being assigned elsewhere. Prime quickly realizes they're here to assassinate him as well, and gives them a chance to run away. Refusing, Warpath fires on Optimus Prime, but the Autobot commander uses Ricochet as a shield. Tossing his deceased bodyguard aside, Prime rushes forth against Rodimus' agents, crushing Warpath's cannon and throwing him into Hound. Decapitating Camshaft with his cannon, Prime grabs Kup, remarking on the pity of losing the old soldier, and crushes his head in his hands. Suddenly, Prime is accosted by Alpha Trion, who, along with Sky Lynx and Nightscream, has come to ensure Prime's death.

At Decepticon headquarters, the ranting Cyclonus is arrested, as Heatwave threatens to kill him. Starscream despairs over the corpse of Megatron, while Topspin asks the unsure Landquake what they should do. Breakaway believes they should try to bring Megatron back, telling Landquake that their attempts to revive Skyfall failed because he was offline for a long amount of time, while Megatron has only been offline for a few minutes. Breakaway asks Heatwave if he has any special abilities like the rest, and when the Decepticon tells him he can talk to non-sentient machines, Breakaway tells him that he intends to bring Megatron back to life.

Greeting his old mentor, Optimus Prime shows Alpha Trion the new Autobot superweapon, Omega Doom. Omega Doom unleashes a blast that seemingly destroys Alpha Trion and a mile of the Cybertron landscape. Pleased, Prime orders his weapon to destroy the Decepticons while he deals with Trion subordinates...

Attempting to use their powers on Megatron, the four find the world fragmenting around them, as visions from the past, old friends, and other universes appear to them, before the four are joined by Skyfall in a shared mindscape. The four are greeted by the voice of Primus, who tells them while this one is farther than most, all Cybertrons are theirs, and that their reunification is at hand. Primus gives them the option to remain individuals, or to die and be reborn, more powerful than ever. The five make an unspoken agreement, and Primus tells his child, Nexus Prime, to arise.

  • Skyfall's corpse is surrounded by the heads of Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime, Energon Downshift (see "Errors", however), and Sentinel Maximus, who he met in the "Revelations" storyline.
  • Skyfall remembers Trion stabbing him at the end of the "Transcendent" storyline.

  • A few more new characters are introduced this issue, along with Hound finally making a visual appearance in-story after his profile was published earlier in the issue:
    • Kup, who's based on BotCon 2009 Kup in the colors of fellow exclusive Scourge; his Elite Guard symbol comes from that year's customization class toy, Shattered Glass Thunderclash.
    • Warpath is based on Universe Legends-class Warpath in the colors of GoBots Tank. He still has his positive-universe counterpart's tendency to add explosive onomatopoeia to his speech.
    • Camshaft is repurposed from Universe Spychanger Camshaft.
