Ballpoint is an Autobot and former Decepticon from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Too much of a BotBot for the Decepticons, too much of a Decepticon for the BotBots.

Ballpoint is the coolest bot you'll ever meet. With an astounding variety of skills and talents under his pen-sized belt, it's no wonder why everybody wants an autograph from this remarkable soldier! ...That's what he'd want you to believe, that is.

An energetic and confident little bot, he often gets in the way during missions due to his short stature, general inexperience, and ceaseless chatter. With the proper support, though, the sky's the limit as to what he's able to accomplish!

Transformers: Worst Bot Ever

[edit]

Ballpoint was a Decepticon, firmly believing in the cause of "Destroying their enemies and taking all the Energon for themselves". He had an unfortunately large ego, and believed that he was a powerful warrior, among many other skills. In one battle on Cybertron, Ballpoint would go up against Blurr, who simply drove off laughing. When the Decepticons intercepted the Autobots' plan to flee Cybertron aboard the Ark, Ballpoint would hitch a ride on the Nemesis, unbeknownst to anyone else. After crash-landing on Earth, he and the other Transformers would be awoken some time later, and the Decepticons would eventually establish their own base.

One day, Ballpoint was retelling these events (egregiously embellished to fit his own narrative) to his best friend, "Smoothie" the blender. Starscream would interrupt him, berating him and telling him to never compare them to each other. The Decepticons would then be summoned by Megatron to be briefed on the solar farm they would be raiding. Along the way, Ballpoint would give his intel report to Starscream, and sign Shockwave's own intel, thinking he was asking for an autograph.

In the throne room, Megatron would grow increasingly furious at his subordinates, being unable to read Shockwave's writing thanks to Ballpoint's autograph, and Starscream's intel report having been taped over by Ballpoint's own music video. Megatron, anticipating this incompetence, had gathered the intel himself, so the Decepticons headed out towards the solar farm. When they arrived, Ballpoint asked what his job would be, leading Shockwave to inform Megatron of Ballpoint's incompetence. Shockwave was ordered to disintegrate Ballpoint if he got in the way, a task which Shockwave relished. He ordered Ballpoint to monitor a small energy station and look out for Autobots. Ballpoint quickly began talking to the station, causing him to entirely miss the Autobots and the ensuing battle. He only realized what was happening when the Decepticons were ordered to retreat, and only barely caught up with them.

While the Decepticons were licking their wounds back at base, Ballpoint would make excuses about how he was totally fighting a whole team of even tougher Autobots, but nobody wanted to hear it. When Megatron, positively fuming over their embarrassing defeat, asked why everyone was so incompetent, everyone unanimously pointed at Ballpoint. Starscream would choose that moment to return with Megatron's energon shake, and Megatron would knock it from his hands, breaking the blender. Mourning Smoothie's death, Ballpoint would be kicked out among the garbage. He began brainstorming of a way to impress Megatron, settling on taking down all the Autobots single-handedly.

After making his way to the Ark, Ballpoint would try to distract Prowl from guard duty by throwing a rock near him. When that didn't work, Ballpoint tried throwing a rock directly at his head. When that didn't work, and after several more attempts, Ballpoint switched tactics and ordered a huge amount of pizzas. While Prowl was busy arguing with the delivery guy, Ballpoint slipped in. He was almost caught by Mirage, but managed to avoid detection by transforming into pen mode. He made his way over to the computer and tried printing out an incriminating note, with the intention of making the Autobots devolve to infighting. Thankfully, Wheeljack and Ratchet were just glad the printer had been fixed. He then tried a more direct approach in the form of beating up Brawn. He ended up being unknowingly punted across the hallway and being stepped on by Optimus Prime. Deciding a frontal assault wasn't working, Ballpoint turned his efforts to psychological warfare.

Ballpoint's first act was to draw on Sideswipe's and Sunstreaker's faces while they were sleeping. Unfortunately, this did not have the terror-inducing effect he wanted. He then pretended to be "Dr. Point", a dentist, in order to get close to Optimus. Upon Optimus pointing out that Transformers don't have teeth (and he himself may not even have a mouth), Ballpoint finally gave up. He confessed who he was and why he was there, wondering if the other Decepticons were right about him being useless. Optimus listened, and told Ballpoint that it took great bravery to admit that, and that he was sure he'd prove his worth soon enough. Just then, the Ark shook, under siege by the Decepticons. The Autobots scrambled to battle, and Optimus even let Ballpoint ride inside him as he gave the order to roll out.

Outside, a fierce battle was already taking place. Optimus passed Ballpoint over to Bumblebee, ordering them to take down Starscream while he took on Megatron. Ballpoint was less than confident in their ability to take on Starscream, but Bumblebee decided to wing it, literally. Grabbing Starscream's wing, they threw him off balance, but Ballpoint was unable to dismount in time and was thrown off, landing right between Megatron and Prime.
