The Surumerang (スルメラン) is Scuba's signature weapon and Ikard is no slouch with it either. Most of the times, it is one regular boomerang that fits Scuba's color scheme, but sometimes, there are many single-use Surumerangs that are made from varying materials to achieve different effects. No matter which version it is, though, Scuba throws it with efficiency.

The single-use Surumerangs are known to come in the following types and are used in the following techniques:

• Surumerang Signal (スルメランシグナル, Surumerang Signal): Scuba throws Surumerang-shaped fireworks up into the sky where it explodes into a signal. This particular type of Surumerang has 五連発 (Gorenpatsu, "Quintuple Burst") written on it, suggesting that the fireworks display consists of five sequential bursts.
• Squick Ink-Made Surumerang (イカスミ製スルメラン, Ika Sumi Sei Surumerang): This type of Surumerang is made from ink, presumably the same that Scuba excretes himself. When it breaks open, it unleashes a cloud of ink that takes away the sight of everyone near.
• Surumerang Copy Shot (スルメラン分身撃ち, Surumerang Bunshin Uchi): Scuba first performs a ninja duplication technique and then all copies throw Surumerangs made of dynamite with the goal of hitting one target with multiple explosions that jointly form one big explosion.
• Dynamite Surumerang: Wild Shot (ダイナマイトスルメラン乱れ撃ち, Dynamite Surumerang Midare Uchi): Scuba throws multiple Surumerangs made of dynamite in rapid succession.

Scuba and a badly injured Tasmania Kid had to find a way to help Lio Convoy, who was infused with Angolmois Energy, giant, not all there, and in a fight with Galvatron. They couldn't do this alone, so Scuba threw Surumerang-shaped fireworks into the sky, which exploded into a gigantic SOS firework bearing the likeness of a squid. This was, as intended, visible from the Maximal base and the other half of the team swiftly came to their location. Free the Captured Matrix!

Despite Scuba's insistence that he had no feelings for Scylla, Bighorn fought him for her love. Scuba was therefore forced to fight back and opened by throwing a Surumerang made from ink. It exploded in a thick black cloud when Bighorn confidently blocked it and this temporarily blinded him. Scuba made good use of the clear shot at his colleague by firing several missiles. A little further into the battle, Scuba performed a ninja duplication technique around Bighorn and all copies simultaneously threw their Surumerangs, culminating in one giant explosion with Bighorn at the center. Bighorn fought back with his own talents, though, and the battle could've gone on for much longer if the Predacons hand't decided to attack. Scuba and Bighorn joint forces against them by simultaneously unleashing Scuba's rapid fire Dynamite Surumerang: Wild Shot and Bighorn's powerful Buffalo Missile. The two made peace thereafter. A white, blue and pink version of Scuba was part of a six-piece set of unique redecoes of the main Cybertron cast of Beast Wars II, the grand prize in the "New Beast Warriors Contest" in the February 1999 issue of TV Magazine. The details of this contest are currently unknown. This Scuba came with a plunger of a yet unknown color. In beast mode, pushing this plunger on his back opens his beast mode jaws; a gimmick that works in both modes. In robot mode, this piece of the plunger can be removed to become his hand-held Surumerang.

Notes

• "Surumerang" (スルメラン) is a portmanteau of [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Dried shredded squid|{{#if:surume|surume|Dried shredded squid}}]] (スルメ) and "boomerang" (ブーメラン).
• The idea that Scuba has an assortment of Surumerangs seems to be an invention of the comic, if only because boomerangs that don't come back are pretty shitty boomerangs, so if this was a leftover idea from early in development, the weapon would probably not have been called "Surumerang". In the comic, Scuba, who is a ninja, wields his Surumerangs more like they are explosive [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}shuriken|{{#if:||shuriken}}]]. The two times a Surumerang is clearly visible, it does not have two ends like a boomerang, but three like a simple star. It might be the post on the toy version of the Surumerang was reinterpreted as a third prong.
