Must...resist..."Holy"...pun...wait that counts doesn't it? DANG IT.

According to legend, the warring planets Agorria and Zertonia orbited the same sun thousands of years ago. When that sun collapsed into a black hole, the two races came together to save themselves. They connected their two planets around the black hole, each now forming one half of the Sacred Ring, or Ring of Zerta. Sadly, they fell back to war over control of their newly shared home. But maybe one day, revelations from the past will unite the two races once more.

When you first saw Halo, were you blinded by its majesty?

Following their expulsion from Cybertron, the Quintessons dispatched Goliant to the planet. Knowing the giant would turn the tide in the Quintessons' favour, Zerta Trion led him to a distant star system and duped him into consuming a red star on the verge of becoming a black hole. As Goliant fed, Zerta influenced the planets Agorria and Zertonia, doomed satellites of the red sun, to dismantle their worlds and each forge one half of the Sacred Ring. When Goliant became trapped in the black hole, the Ring around the singularity became his prison, allowing Zerta to cloud his mind and divide his essence, necessitating a division between the Agorrians and the Zertonians. Hoping to also solve Cybertron's energy crisis, Zerta designed the Ring to synthesize energon from the black hole and Goliant, whom she intended to kill when he was at his weakest. Void Rivals #17 A wasteland came to exist between the edges of Agorria and Zertonia. Void Rivals #6 Legends of Zerta's work persisted among the Cybertronians, Void Rivals #10 and Quintessons. Eventually, the war between the Agorrians and the Zertonians began anew. Void Rivals #2 During this new war, the leaders of both factions were aware of the truth about their species and kept the war going anyway, Void Rivals #4 fearing that reunification would awaken Goliant. A hundred years before the present day, Springer, following the legends of Zerta Trion in his hunt for new energon sources, landed on the Sacred Ring and constructed a hidden underground lab. Void Rivals #10

When both species sought to harvest an asteroid of ice, Void Rivals #2 Darak and Solila were each sent to harvest it only to shoot each other down. Deciding to work together to survive, the two discovered themselves to be members of the same species. Void Rivals #1 Managing to jury-rig a ramshackle ship, the two were abducted by the Skuxxoid, Void Rivals #2 but managed to bargain with him, trading their ship for a Nebulan craft. Knocking out Darak, Solila landed the ship on the Zertonian side of the Ring. Void Rivals #3

After being arrested in Zertonia, Darak and Solila escaped and made their way to the Wastelands. Void Rivals #6 In the Wastelands, they found Springer, Void Rivals #9 who revealed his findings about the Ring's connection to Cybertron. Void Rivals #10 While Darak sought to return to his people with the knowledge of Energon, Solila opted to descend within the Ring and find Zerta Trion, Void Rivals #12 eventually locating the supercomputer Vector Theta in the depths of the Sacred Ring. The Skuxxoid managed to barter Darak and Solila's craft to the Quintessons. Suspecting a connection between Zertonia and Zerta Trion, the Quintessons began to search for the Sacred Ring. Void Rivals #5 Void Rivals #6 Void Rivals #9 Reuniting with Slizardo at a space station, Skuxxoid was also made to give up his information to Hot Rod. Void Rivals Energon Universe 2024 Special story Tracking the signature of the Nebulan craft, Hot Rod made his way to the Sacred Ring, unaware that he'd been followed by the Quintessons. Void Rivals #11 Void Rivals #14 The Quintessons abruptly returned to Quintessa before they could be detected to report their findings, while Hot Rod introduced himself to the Agorrians and reunited with Springer, discussing how Zerta Trion's influence was all over the Sacred Ring, although Zerta herself had not been located. Soon afterwards, Elander revealed his allegiance to the Unifiers to Darak only for Dulin to order them both arrested.

After activating Vector Theta, the supercomputer brusquely told Solila to simply keep going on her path to find Zerta Trion. Continuing into the depths of the Ring, Solila found Zerta Trion, her presence rousing the Cybertronian from stasis. Void Rivals #16 After Zerta told Solila the true origins of the Ring, she promised to give the Zertonian the power needed to slay Goliant. Void Rivals #17
