The rest of the Earthforce grow concerned about their teammates. Meanwhile, the Decepticons switch to close combat, only to find that perhaps staying far away was indeed a good idea.

Synopsis

[edit]

Part 1

[edit]

Trip-Up is unable to reach Skids' team, concerning the other members of Laser Optimus' Earthforce sub-team, as their communications experts Blaster and Soundbarrier are in the group, so reaching them should be a piece of cake. Additionally, the Decepticons have yet to attack the nuclear facility they're guarding. Optimus orders Hoist to ready the Ground Bridge. Smashdown suggests they further split themselves up in the event that it's a Decepticon trap of some sort, and promptly receives orders to stay behind with Beachcomber and Wheeljack. Back at the geothermal well, the team there are confused by the Decepticons' charge into combat, which Blaster hypothesizes is due to Ratbat's original ranged attack plan not being very popular with the others. They decide to take advantage of this, and Overload orders Sundor to take to the skies while Skids laments the lack of reinforcements.

Part 2

[edit]

As they watch from afar, Bomb-Burst continues to question why Megatronus Prime insists on doing intelligence-gathering as opposed to just destroying them with their combined powers. Megatronus reminds him that other servants of Primus are still involved in current events, and because of that, they must be careful. Because of that, he has sent a double agent in to cause chaos and confusion, softening up the opposition. Bomb-Burst, however, does not know who this double agent is, and his partner refuses to reveal if it's Sundor, Ratbat, neither, or both. On the ground, the Autobots and Decepticons battle, but the latter find themselves being endangered by the geysers. Worse, the smog is making it hard to see. While Terror-Daxtyl heads up to get an aerial view of things, Ravage admits that maybe Ratbat was right and they should have continued fighting at a distance. Just then, Terror-Daxtyl is knocked out of the sky by Sundor.

Gameplay

[edit]

This event was an individual totaliser on the Mayhem gamemode, meaning players unlocked points on their own as opposed to with their Alliance. As a Mayhem event, each battle was still won by destroying the HQ, but instead of the rest of the buildings and defenses being destroyed upon them doing so, they could continuing destroying the remaining structures until the 3-minute timer is up to gain additional points. The one caveat is that these bases cost a whopping 15 fuel cells to raid, compared to alternative, easier (but lower-rewarding) 5-fuel-cell-worth bases in the same zones.

This event was also labelled as a "Legacy" event, with the top prize being the 5-star version of a then newly-reworked bot, in this case, Punch or Counterpunch (depending on your faction).

Notes

[edit]
  • While billed as a recap like the preceding two events, this event featured the broadcast of the overwhelming majority of Solus Prime's saga for the first time. We have backfilled the installments to their corresponding events accordingly.
  • This event also had its own story dialogue, but it and the rest of its surrounding saga were subject to a hiccup in production whereby their story component went un-aired until being backfilled post-facto in their own marathon "recap" included with the event "Questionable Comrades".

Continuity notes

[edit]
  • The running gag about Optimus' Laser Rod continues, although, as with last time, it's said by someone other than its wielder (in this case, Gears).
  • Megatronus and Bomb-Burst were previously revealed to have been watching the battle in "Back to Basics... Again?".
  • Megatronus makes mention of "other Primes and heralds of Primus" being in play—Vector, Nova, and Solus Prime have been heavily involved in the story as of late, as have Sentius Magnus and Sentius Malus.
