One popular theory posits that he evolved into [[Astrotrain]], supported by Friedman's autobiography in which while recounting the first draft's opening battle he refers to Rails as Astrotrain. However, it's also possible that it may be based on [[Sky Lynx (G1) | Sky Lynx]] and that someone up the chain mistook his shuttle mode and dragon modes for a bullet-train and snake respectively.
