"Sorcerers, fortify your minds!"

Soundwave was a member of the Cybertronian High Guard. Upon bearing witness to Sentinel Prime's betrayal of the Primes, he and the rest of the High Guard resolved to hide away from the rest of Cybertronian society and delegate resources towards sabotaging Sentinel's rule.

Flanking Starscream alongside Shockwave, Soundwave stood in attendance as Starscream interrogated a quartet of trespassers. He scanned the electrical impulses of Orion Pax's brain and informed Starscream that Orion was speaking the truth, but Starscream rebuked him and claimed it only meant Orion believed what he was saying. He then received a complaint from Shockwave that they should have applied a stronger gag when B-127 managed to get it off his mouth, though he did not respond. When things went sour and a fight broke out between Starscream and D-16, Soundwave silently stopped Shockwave from intervening with a single gesture.

Though the duel ended with D-16 victorious and Starscream's life spared, that was when a swarm of Death Trackers led by Airachnid descended upon them. Soundwave fought bravely against them and managed to avoid being captured himself, but could not prevent the numerically superior enemy from carrying off many prisoners including Starscream, D-16, and B-127. In the aftermath of the battle, Soundwave ordered the remaining High Guard to prepare for battle once Elita-1 had 'convinced' Shockwave to join forces.

"Don't stop moving to that S Club beat!"

Soundwave took part in the assault on Sentinel's tower, piloting the energon transport train carrying the High Guard warriors and commanding them into battle. Once the train had breached Sentinel's tower, he swooped through the air in vehicle mode and fired a sonic pulse that disabled all the prisoners' stasis cuffs, allowing them to join the fight as well. He watched and cheered as Megatron tore Sentinel in half and participated in the destruction of Iacon City, only to be interrupted by a returned Orion - now rechristened Optimus Prime. He then rushed in to engage the Prime in combat when Megatron commanded his men to attack, but got bashed in the head with a missile by Optimus for his troubles. Soundwave and his fellow High Guard officers chose to follow Megatron and retreat after Optimus exiled Megatron and all his followers from Iacon.

Later, Soundwave received a new brand on his chest alongside all of Megatron's other followers. He watched as Megatron officially announced the formation of the Decepticons. One

Before the fall of the Primes, Soundwave was the High Guard’s chief spymaster. His ability to scan electrical brain impulses allowed him to read minds and detect lies, while his army of Mini-Cassettes made him a formidable combatant. Transformers One Sourcebook

Blokees

Classic Class

  • Soundwave (Classic Class, 2025)
  • ID number: 17
Released as part of Blokees' Classic Class kits, Soundwave is a 4.5-inch-tall non-transforming Deluxe/Prime Changer-sized Gunpla-style model kit with some pre-painted parts on the runners. He also features a torso frame that lights up upon shaking (or at least lightly tapping some areas on the torso), causing the eyes to glow for a limited time. Unlike other Classic Class kits, Soundwave does not come with additional weapons but instead relies on his shoulder cannon, as he did in the film. While the pieces are molded on a touch-gate runner for easy removal of parts without nippers or tools, the former is required for a cleaner cut. Like Ironhide and Shockwave, Soundwave features additional articulation such as the forward-swing shoulder joints, the double-jointed elbows, a pull-down hip joint axis, and slightly improved 140-degree knee joints.

Galaxy Version

  • Soundwave (2025)
  • Series: Galaxy Version 07 - One Wave 2
  • Accessories: 2 pairs of hands (Fists/Weapon-holding, open palm)
Part of Blokees' 7th entry for their Galaxy Version blindbox kits, this Soundwave is a roughly 4-inch-tall, highly-articulated, and non-transforming snap-on model kit of the High Guard's Supreme Guardian. He is built on a "Standard Body" skeleton shared with other Blokees figures in the line, but with different body pieces to make them distinct. As advertised in the box, Soundwave has a pull rate of 1 in every 9 boxes. In addition to the usual 2 pairs of hands, Soundwave also features a ball-jointed waist similar to his wave mates, and he also uses the underslung peghole forearms from the 5th wave.
If you're a speed builder, be mindful when attaching the pre-assembled joints; Unlike the symmetrical joints from earlier waves, the pegs on both ends of these joints are designed to connect to specific pieces; The tabs with slightly smaller holes are intended for the upper arms and thighs, while the regular tabs are meant for the forearms and lower legs. While an incorrect knee joint assembly may cause it to very slightly lean when standing straight or in an A-stance, an incorrect elbow assembly won't be noticeably affected unless you're looking very closely.

Notes

  • Soundwave's hovercraft alternate mode is very similar to the one designed for his live-action Bumblebee counterpart's Studio Series toy, while his unusually wide and stocky robot mode design takes inspiration from the proportions of the original G1 Soundwave toy.
