In the Dreamwave comics, the Ultracons were a Decepticon sub-faction that formed ~7 million years ago. High Auditor Ratbat broke away from the Decepticons after Starscream's failed coup attempt. He believed the war could be conducted more efficiently using a smaller force that control key resources. Their territory was south of Polyhex.
With Megatron's return to power ~6 million years ago, the Ultracons presumably ceased to exist.
