[[Violen Jygar]], a crazy supernatural creature and leader of the [[Decepticon|Decepticons]], ordered his [[Nine Great Demon Generals]] to steal the Zodiac so he could possess its great power.  According to [[Dai Atlas]], the Zodiac was an all-powerful energy source which supposedly created the whole universe and was the source of all life.  It rested in a chamber deep beneath the surface of [[Zone (planet)|Planet Zone]], where the Autobots were situated.

When the enigmatic supernatural creature [[Violen Jiger]] took control of the [[Decepticon]]s, he schemed to harness the power of the Zodiac and merge it with the new super-fuel, [[Energon Z]], which the [[Autobot]]s had developed, in order to dominate the universe. Recruiting a team of [[Nine Great Demon Generals]] from throughout Decepticon history, Violen Jiger dispatched his new troops to steal the Energon Z from planet [[Micro|Zone]], and to locate the Zodiac, which was hidden somewhere on [[Earth]].


Violen Jygar sent [[King Poseidon]], [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]], [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]] and [[Predaking]] to steal the Zone before the Autobots could get their mits on it.  The Decepticons nearly succeeded, but the Zodiac managed to fall into the hands of Dai Atlas and [[Sonic Bomber]]. With the two energies united, the true power of the Zodiac was unlocked, and it changed shape, now resembling a translucent blue sphere that contained a galaxy. When the Decepticon, [[Mirage (G1)|Mirage]], infiltrated the Autobots' base, Optimus Prime charged the invader and sent him crashing into the Zodiac energy chamber. When the enigmatic supernatural creature Violen Jiger took control of the Decepticons, he schemed to harness the power of the Zodiac and merge it with the new super-fuel, Energon Z, which the Autobots had developed, in order to dominate the universe.
