The Coda Remote was a device created by A3 eleven million years ago to disable the Dark Guardians and enable the Quintessons' slaves to rise up against their masters.

During the slaves' attack on the Quintesson-occupied Hive City, the Dark Guardians had the rebels and several time-displaced Autobots surrounded. A3 returned from his own time displacement to the year 2006 and used the Remote, which was actually the golden Autobot symbol on his own chest.
