It's Nexus Prime and Omega Doom in a showdown for the survival of Cybertron!

Synopsis

Look out, evil, it's the redeco patrol!

Omega Doom reaches the Decepticon base and starts attacking the defenders sent out to deal with him. Abominus tells Omega to surrender, but the Autobot responds with an eye beam blast that brings the combiner to his knees. Omega then fires a second time, but it is blocked by a force field from the reborn Nexus Prime, who is backed up by Galvatron, the resurrected Megatron's new form.

After an exchange of weapons fire, Omega realizes he's outmatched, and launches his starkiller missile towards Cybertron's sun to distract the gestalt. Nexus Prime races after the missile while Galvatron leads his Decepticons against Omega. What's left of the Decepticon parts of Nexus's mind scream for him to stay and fight, but he knows the Autobot parts of him have the right idea in saving the sun from going nova and torching everyone on the planet.

Unfortunately Nexus is too late to stop the missile's impact, but he uses his abilities to repair the damage done before the sun can explode. Back on Cybertron, Omega has managed to defeat all of the Decepticons except for Galvatron, but Nexus returns to divebomb Omega into submission with a high-energy impact.

Inside the Decepticon base, Galvatron undergoes repairs while giving thanks and goodbyes to Nexus Prime, who must leave with Aquarius to follow a personal calling. Galvatron offers the use of the Stellar Spanner the Decepticons recovered from Alpha Trion's laboratory, which will be destroyed afterwards to keep it out of dangerous hands. Cliffjumper, who's chosen to stay until Optimus Prime is defeated, offers his own goodbyes to what's left of Skyfall and Landquake, and asks where Nexus Prime is headed. Nexus doesn't know, but as he and Aquarius step through the Spanner he's sure fate will take them where they need to go...

Quotes

"You cannot defeat me, Omega Doom. I am the mighty fist of the Lord of Light."

Nexus Prime

"Inside me, five minds struggle for control—for survival—but even as they do I can feel myself emerging. After all this time, the we that I was is melting into the me that I am."

Nexus Prime does strange things with pronouns.

"Are you sure about this, man? It's an open channel. We could end up anywhere."
"That's the idea, Aquarius. Fate guided me here. It'll take care of the next destination too."
"Word."

Aquarius and Nexus Prime head off to destinations unknown.

Notes

  • Cameos: Cutthroat (as separate from Abominus), Mixmaster, Scavenger, Starscream, (other unidentified Decepticons?)
  • Computron pretty much disappears between this and "Reunification: Part 4", with no indication if he was beat down by Abominus or just let Omega Doom take over.
  • Likewise, while we find out that Alpha Trion is still alive, we don't hear about Sky Lynx or Nightscream's fate until "The Coming Storm: Part 1", where it's revealed that Nightscream got a savage blastdown by Optimus Prime.
  • The fact that the part of Nexus Prime's mind that is still Heatwave sides with Landquake and Topspin in being more interested in "combat and revenge" against Omega Doom, rather than with Skyfall and Breakaway in wanting to save everyone on the planet from certain death, seems a bit... quirky, at least.
  • Heatwave also gets passed over in Cliffjumper's goodbyes despite having served with him for several months on Earth. Poor guy.
  • One wonders if Optimus Prime knows that Omega Doom was OK with roasting everyone on Cybertron... with Prime and his Autobots presumably still on it.
