The Flood
Should the article mention the less than subtle aesthetic homage to the parasitic alien Flood from Halo? [Note that the color, asymmetry, 'veiny' details, and the thoracic eye all homage the general look of Flood combat forms.]
Perhaps, at the very least, one of the pictures could be captioned "I am a monument to all your sins" or "A single spore can destroy a civilization"?
