Campologno is an Autobot-allied human from the Generation 1 continuity family.
This story would be about 10x cooler if I actually were Captain Commando.

Campologno is a member of Skywatch under Spike Witwicky's command. He's kind of a goofball.

Fiction

IDW comics continuity

When several Autobots were detected travelling in the desert, Campologno took point in a unit commanded by Pennington. Equipped with a powered exoskeleton that enhanced his abilities, Campologno snuck up on the Autobot Beachcomber and slapped a suppressor on his chest while the other Autobots were investigating a landmine Blurr had run over. Landing on the Autobot after the suppressor forced him to transform, Campologno boasted of his singular heroics. Tracks almost opened fire on Campologno in retaliation, until he was reminded by Hoist that the Autobots can't harm the humans. A Rude Awakening

Campologno was deployed on a Skywatch aerial transport when Spike Witwicky was ambushed by the Stunticons whilst out on a joyride in Breakdown. On the way back to base, they spotted the giant Decepticon combiner Menasor duking it out with the Autobots at the site of Hot Rod's rocket launch site. Observing the battle, Campologno noted that the two ancient foes would not stop fighting until they killed each other or Skywatch captured them all. Earthworks

Later, with the Autobots now (unofficial) allies of Skywatch, Campologno attempted to befriend the aliens and help them understand human culture by providing his DVDs to them. International Incident Part 2: "Ranks of Bronze" Campologno lightly mocked Joe Henderson in the mess after a Skywatch martial arts exercise, escalating into friendly wrestling which saw them crash from a glass screen into a hallway. An unimpressed Witwicky ordered Campologno to clean up the mess. The Transformers issue 8

Soon after a devastating attack by North Korea-backed Combaticons on South Korean and American forces, Campologno alerted Spike and the Autobots to a troubling live address by the President of the United States where he declared Cybertronians to be weapons of mass destruction and that the United States would respond with force if any nation used the alien visitors as muscle. This was especially worrying for Skywatch, as Spike had been preparing to formally ulitize the Autobots to fight against the Combaticons in Korea. However, with the President's unwitting proclaimation, they were now forced to do so, but in disguise. International Incident Part 1: "The Land Ironclads"

Later, in trade for getting a real haircut, I tragically become comic relief.

After a hasty preparation period, the small team docked at the South Korean port of Incheon, and Campologno was tasked with convincing the local customs official that he was really a stevedore and they were really delivering a handful of cars from the United States right in the middle of a war. Unfortunately, their hastily-prepared story was failing, forcing him to take drastic measures and knock out the customs official, which earned him a rebuke from both Henderson and Spike. He protested his innocence considering he wasn't provided a copy of the shipping manifest and the hasty planning of the mission. During the battle in the city, Campologno and Henderson deployed from Optimus Prime's trailer in Skywatch crash suits, but were unable to prevent Brawl from escaping. International Incident Part 2: "Ranks of Bronze"

Notes

  • Campologno is based on Jim Campolongo, the real-life friend of IDW Publishing writer Mike Costa, who is a writer and story editor on the popular USA Network crime drama White Collar.
