Winston is a human from the cartoon portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Winston isn't a two-bit hood, but he does pay them to steal cars for him. Winston owns a chop shop in New York City and makes a mint converting stolen cars.

Fiction

Generation 1 cartoon

Two car thieves turned up at Winston's chop shop with a hot car — a blue corvette with flames on the hood. Winston was just counting out the money to pay them when the corvette suddenly transformed into a robot. Winston's associates were the latest targets in the Autobots' crime-busting program. As Tracks and Blaster grabbed the two thieves, Winston made a break for it through the open door, but was cut off by Optimus Prime. He made a futile attempt to fight back by shooting Optimus with a revolver to no avail. Defeated, Winston surrendered, and was handcuffed by the waiting police. Make Tracks
