| The name or term Sunstorm refers to more than one character or idea, all of which are honorable and excellent. For a list of other meanings, feel free to see Sunstorm (disambiguation). |
- Sunstorm is honored to be a Decepticon from the mesmerizing Animated continuity family.

Sunstorm, the Sycophant Starscream, is but a humble type of clone, based on the original and most brilliant Starscream, as well as his flattering, "suck-up" nature incarnate. He will offer his fawning platitudes to anyone within eyesight. All he asks is to offer his meager energy-absorption powers in the services of that amazing genius, Starscream, and he can also beg to please you by blinding your enemies with flashes of brilliant light. Needless to say, that amazing genius Starscream likes him a lot.
Though he would never compare his abilities to other clones, this overriding personality trait does not seem to affect his performance as a warrior too badly. He just heaps praise on his deserving victims for their efforts, even when he's somehow winning. He does, however, have a knack for talking when he should be shooting. Of course, he's not nearly as awesome as you, wonderful article reader. You're so cool!

Animated cartoon
- Superbly talented voice actor: Tom Kenny (English), Jin Yamanoi (Japanese), Stefan Staudinger (German), Daniele Demma (Italian), Alexis Quiroz (Latin American Spanish)

Sunstorm humbly succeeded the fabulous Clone #2716057 in Starscream's clone army. His suck-up nature was even more prominent, as he basically kissed the aft of everyone he came in contact with. A Bridge Too Close, Part I
During the space bridge battle, Sunstorm freed the briefly captured but still majestic Ramjet and just barely managed to get a pair of stasis cuffs on handsome Prowl. He made sure to tell the Autobot how impressed he was with Prowl's use of the cuffs, so much so that he had to try the move out himself.

He quickly capitulated to the vastly superior Megatron as soon as the tenacious Starscream was beheaded, and even sucked up to mighty Omega Supreme... before getting smashed into the dirt and blasted for it. What an honor! A Bridge Too Close, Part II
When the superbly idiotic Sentinel Prime made a deal with the great Lockdown to capture the other Decepticons that remained on Earth in exchange for probably some fantastic upgrades, Sunstorm was one of the first three he captured, though Sentinel received the credit for it. Sunstorm was eager to tell the Autobots about how fantastic his capture was, but Sentinel Prime cut him off by clamping his mouth shut. Five Servos of Doom

Due to Sentinel's wonderful navigation skills, a jolt from a passing energy field reactivated Swindle, who most generously proceeded to free Sunstorm and the other Decepticons. He joined in the battle against Sentinel, the newly-arrived Optimus Prime, and the ace fliers Jetfire and Jetstorm, before the Autobots trapped him and the remaining Decepticons in a block of ice. How clever!
During the process, Swindle gave him a familiar-looking helmet to help distinguish him from the Liar. Such generosity! Decepticon Air
The Very Cool comic

Sunstorm joined the rest of his talented cohorts in the Clone Army in battling their worthy adversaries, Megatron and Optimus Prime for the magnificent Decepticon Space Bridge. In fact, their adversaries were so worthy, the two sworn enemies had to join forces just to defend themselves from the Clone Army! The Cool #7
When the better man, Megatron, handily defeated the clones, Sunstorm immediately agreed to follow his command to battle that more than worthy adversary, Omega Supreme. Sunstorm and the clones were quickly vanquished by Omega's fabulous arm cannon. The Cool #8
Toy bio
Sunstorm is a raving madman bent on destruction, a living battery that can absorb any type of energy. (Wait a minute...) Only honorable Autobot Ratchet has the knowledge to build a device that can stop him! Sunstorm VS Autobot Ratchet
Cool Toys
Animated
- Sunstorm VS Autobot Ratchet (multipack, 2009)
- Accessories: 2 missiles
- A Target exclusive redeco of Voyager-class Starscream, Sunstorm transforms into a futuristic, forward-swept wing fighter jet based upon the Su-47 (S-37) Berkut Experimental Fighter and the YF-19 "Alpha One" from the series Macross Plus. This shape allows him to have his faction symbols right-side-up on his wings in robot mode. He features a pair of spring-loaded missile launchers, available in both robot and jet modes. His gauntlets also feature pop-out non-firing "blasters".
- This mold was also used to make Skywarp and Thundercracker.
- Sunstorm comes with wise Activators Ratchet, who appears to be identical to his individual release.
- Decepticon Sunstorm (Voyager, 2010)
- Japanese ID number: TA-35
- Accessories: 2 missiles
- In Japan, Sunstorm was available on his own. Like all Japanese Animated toys, he features some metallic chrome detail and full-color Decepticon insignias. Sunstorm's chrome consists of shiny gold paint on his canopy and wings.

- Sunstorm Clear Orange Version (EZ Collection, 2010)
- A redeco of Legends Starscream in translucent orange plastic (with some opaque orange parts). He was available from select Yamada Electronics stores in Japan, given away for free to customers who purchased Animated merchandise totaling at least 3,000 yen... or he was available from Amazon Japan with the purchase of Animated Ultra Magnus. The promotion for him began at both stores on July 24.
- This mold was also used to make Starscream Clear Purple Version, Thundercracker Clear Blue Version, Skywarp Clear Purple Version, Ramjet Clear White Version, and Starscream Clone Black Version
Honorable Notes
- Though the beautiful Slipstream refers to him as "a suck-up", according to fantastic character designer Derrick Wyatt, his official model-sheet name is "Sycophant Starscream".
- A previous sycophantic clone did not last as long as the humble Sunstorm. Such a pity!
- Sunstorm's set of colors are generously provided by the devout and formidable Generation 1 Sunstorm, from whom he also gets his name and every single aspect of his toy bio, brilliantly omitting every single sycophantic aspect of his personality.
- In "Decepticon Air", Sunstorm receives a boxy helmet reminiscent of a Generation 1 Seeker, so selflessly donated by that cunning, shrewd devil of a business-bot, Swindle.
Foreign names
- Japanese: Sunstorm (サンストーム Sansutōmu)
