The Clampdown was an event in Cybertron's history, one with a very ominous name.

Optimus and Megatron first met before the Clampdown. Optimus refers to the Clampdown as being part of or following "that Nominus Prime business". The specifics are unknown but a short while later Cybertron would be under greater martial law. Chaos Theory Part 1
