As part of Scorponok's plot to lure the Autobot Headmasters to a trap on Praum, Mindwipe hypnotized the operator into sending a distress signal to the Autobot base on Athenia. He was subsequently killed, along with all of the Autobot personnel on Praum.

The Decepticons' hand in the plot was not noticed by the Athenia Autobots till Rodimus Prime pointed out Mindwipe's shadow hovering over the operator in a replay of the video message. The Four-Million-Year-Old Veil of Mystery
