| This article is about the Animated character. For the Revenge of the Fallen character, see Scalpel (ROTF). |

- Scalpel is a Decepticon from the Transformers Animated continuity family.
Doctor Scalpel is equal parts medic, engineer, and butcher. While he is not as skilled as his Autobot counterpart Perceptor, he makes up for it with a complete lack of ethics. Scalpel excels at taking things apart, whether they be Autobot, organic, or even his fellow Decepticons. This becomes troublesome as his enthusiasm for dissecting things is far greater than his ability to reassemble them once he's done.

Animated cartoon continuity
After the Great War, Megatron enlisted Scalpel to clone the Autobot's greatest scientific mind, Perceptor, in order to turn the intellect that won the war against the Autobots. Despite Starscream's insistence that copying the Autobot scientist's design schematics would not be enough to turn defeat into victory, Megatron allowed the project to continue, with the end result a complete failure at achieving the goals it was created for. Transformers Animated: The AllSpark Almanac II However, this did not deter the Decepticons' cloning program. Scalpel and Oil Slick continued on to make Toxitron and Nemesis Prime from Optimus Prime, as well as reformatting Team Stunticon into Autobot shells for an infiltration mission. [1][2]
Scalpel also inspected the enigmatic Cyclonus in order to determine his origins. Turned out he was from the future and knew a lot about history. Transformers Animated: The AllSpark Almanac II
Following the Stunticons' failure to rescue the imprisoned Megatron from Trypticon Prison, Scalpel joined Oil Slick on the new Team Chaar for their first strike against Cybertron itself. The Stunti-Con Job
Notes
- Scalpel's design was originally created as a piece of fanart by Derrick J. Wyatt before it would find its way into use as a legitimate character model in The AllSpark Almanac II.[3]
- Derrick Wyatt confirmed on his blog that Scalpel turns into a microscope. [4]
