The NS Yamal is a Russian icebreaker. It's powered by two nuclear reactors. The crew includes Captain Kirill and Pavel.

The NS Yamal was on its way to McMurdo Station in Antarctica to reunite people with their families on the base for Christmas, when it was attacked by Megatron and Starscream. After Starscream used a static lance to render the crew unconscious, he and Megatron began packing the reactors with explosives, intending to detonate them, causing a meltdown in order to expose energon deposits beneath the ice. When the ship's communications with the outside world cut off, Agent Fowler alerted the Autobots. Optimus Prime, Ratchet and Bumblebee GroundBridged onto the ship and retook it. They then guided it the rest of the way to McMurdo, where the crew and its passengers regained consciousness and wondered how the ship had arrived there. Ice Breaker
