Andy Schmidt is a comic book writer and former Senior Editor for IDW Publishing.
Before working for IDW, he was an editor at Marvel Comics, where he handled most titles under the "Marvel Heroes" brand as well as numerous other top titles, and oversaw the multi-title "Annihilation" crossover event.
He moved to IDW Publishing in 2008, starting out editing their G.I. Joe and Star Trek titles before leaving Star Trek to work on the Transformers brand, first as co-editor, and then taking over as full editor when Denton J. Tipton moved on to other projects. To say that he was overwhelmed with how obsessive Transfans are with the continuity would be an understatement.
In 2011, he was hired by Hasbro directly in some capacity, and has since been replaced as editor on IDW's Hasbro-licensed properties by John Barber.
He also owns and teaches at the Comics Experience school of comics in California.
