- Cave brutes are creatures from the Dark of the Moon portion of the live-action film continuity family.

"Cave brutes" are a type of lifeform that, like the Transformer species, depends on the AllSpark for life. They inhabit the mysterious tunnels that stretch all over the world. Or at least they did in the tunnels beneath the Sierra Nevada from 1898 to 1913.
Fiction
IDW Dark of the Moon comics
Walter Simmons and Theodore Joseph Wells encountered the cave brutes while on an expedition in California in 1898. Since they growled at the two humans, Wells saw it fit to shoot at them. The creatures didn't take that well and attacked. The two adventurers escaped to the surface, where they killed the ones that followed them outside. They also sealed off the entrance to the cave to prevent more pouring out. Original
Following the events at the Arctic, the old Seeker Jetfire discovered the tunnels and entered them. For the next fifteen years, he sought the power source that kept the creatures inhabiting the tunnels alive and didn't hesitate to kill them if they stood in his way. Frozen Shortly after he had slaughtered another batch of cave brutes in Nevada, a human research team that included Simmons and Wells entered the caves and found the creatures' remains, and subsequently Jetfire himself.
