In most continuities, Transsformers will aquire vehicle modes.

Generation 1

The Autobots all had vehicle modes, while the Decepticons had strange alt modes like guns or cassette players. Later, Megatron found that the Autobots had an advantage, they have wheels. So he created the Stunticons to rival the Autobots on the roads. Optimus Prime would go on to create the Aerialbots to even out the odds. Starscream and the Seekers turned into jets.

Beast Era

The Maximals and Predacons had vehicle modes before arriving on Earth, then they got Beast modes. Later, Megatron created the Vehicons, which had vehicle modes.

Robots in Disguise

The Autobots had vehicle modes. The Predacons had Beast modes. Megatron had car and jet alt-modes. Megatron would later find six Autobot protoforms and turn them into Decepticons to work for him.
