The Battle for Hell's Point was a particularly brutal battle on Cybertron, and one of the many where Optimus Prime and Megatron fought personally.

IDW comics continuity
Megatron tore off half of Optimus's face in their battle but Optimus would win the fight by using the Tremorcons' geo-scoop to drop a city block on him, shattering his transformation cog. As a result, Megatron would be trapped in his gun mode for two years afterwards, Chaos Theory Part 1 while Impactor would kill so many Decepticons at Hell's Point that he'd gain the nickname "Kiloton".
