After Ironhide was caught in an explosion and lost consciousness, the humans mistook him for a regular car wreck and sent him to a junkyard in Warsaw, where he was scheduled to be crushed in a car compactor. Devastation #1 Hot Rod and Wheeljack were dispatched to break into the Wreck -n- Rule junkyard and save their comrade.
