Firebug (United)

Firebug is an Autobot Targetmaster from the United EX portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Firebug (ファイアバグ Faiabagu) is the Targetmaster partner to the Power Core Combiner Autobot operating under the code name "Choppermaster". He transforms into a gatling cannon that launches incendiary gel bursts... much to Choppermaster's enjoyment.

Fiction

United EX

Choppermaster was testing the newest Drone-units in the Alps when he suffered a sneak-attack from Rollermaster, who quickly took command of the Drones and combined with them. However, Firebug leapt to Choppermaster's defense, his armor mode shielding the larger Autobot from the ensuing firestorm. Taking advantage of Rollermaster's surprise, Firebug converted to cannon mode and the pair set Rollermaster ablaze with incendiary gel, forcing a separation. In the Blazing Alps Unfortunately, Firebug wasn't able to save them from being buried in an avalanche caused by Combatmaster, who was lying in wait and combined with the Drones himself. Available only in the Versus pack with his larger partner (as well as the Decepticons Rollermaster and Spanner), Firebug is a redeco of the Power Core Combiners Mini-Con Backwind. He transforms from a small robot into a searchlight/winch, a hand-held cannon, or chest armor for any compatible Power Core Combiner super-mode torso. Due to the fact that he has a screwhole in his chest instead of the standard Powerlinx port, Backwind is capable of pegging onto any 5mm post. However, he is incapable of activating any Powerlinx gimmicks on previous Powerlinx compatible toys.

This mold was also used to make Beacon and United Caliburst.

Notes

• As this is a story set in the Japanese continuity, Firebug is most likely a Cybertronian, not a Nebulan.
