IDW Generation 1 comics

One day, some time after adding the pessimistic Drift to their roster, Gasket's little group ran into some Autobot guards enacting police brutality on two arrested thieves for no reason. The ever-helpful Gasket walked up to try and calm them down, but the guards were uninterested in listening to him and pushed him away. Suddenly, the situation escalated when the assaulted prisoner fought back and grabbed one of the Autobots by the arm. The guard panicked and fired his rifle, blasting Gasket through the chest and killing him on the spot.

Drift, enraged by the loss of the only person who had ever tried to help him, avenged him by murdering the guards within seconds. His propensity for violence and grudge against the Autobots led to him joining the Decepticons when the war broke out some time later. Drift #2
