- The Wreckers are a team of Autobots and Maximals in the Generation 1 continuity family.
The Wreckers are a special task force. Generally composed of the best and the toughest die-hard fighters around. The Wreckers tend to be a close knit combat unit that considers themselves the best of the best. They're often called in to fight when the odds
Although the member list has varied between the various continuities, certain Transformers are almost consistently listed as members. These include Springer, Topspin, Twin Twist, Whirl and Roadbuster among them.

The Wreckers are still by tradition considered an Autobot force, despite being on Maximal-era Cybertron, and accepting even Decepticons and Predacons into their ranks following the takeover of Cybertron by Megatron and his Vehicon armies.
IDW comics continuity

The Wreckers are the Autobots who get called in when the odds of success are nonexistent, but the job needs to be done anyway. Assigned to Varas Centralus after the Decepticon infiltration on that planet goes to Phase Six, they are pulled out at the order of Optimus Prime and ordered back to Cybertron when the Autobot leader suspects that Thunderwing himself may be somehow returning. The Wreckers are led by Springer.
