FIRRIB stands for "Frenzy is blue, Rumble is red". Likewise, RIBFIR means "Rumble is blue, Frenzy is red". (The forms FIRRIB and RIRFIB are also known.)
The entire debate exists because "RIBFIR" in the American G1 cartoon (although the character is actually primarily a shade of purple), but "FIBRIR" in the toyline, comics, and the Japanese G1 dub (which simply switched who was who,) and even the US cartoon bible.
Rumble and Frenzy have both had red and blue toys or merchandise.

It is generally agreed that pointing out Rumble was actually purple in the original cartoon is not helpful.
