- Epistemus is a deity from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Epistemus is a god who lived during the earliest period on Cybertron.
Fiction
IDW Generation 1 continuity
Long ago, the Light God Primus created the miracle planet of Cybertron after which he split his essence into five avatars that became a pantheon of deities called the Guiding Hand. Epistemus embodied knowledge personified where he stood alongside his brethren consisting of Solomus, Adaptus, Mortilus and Primus himself. Together, they brought about the first Golden Age of Cybertron until it was shattered by Mortilus who desired to strike against the universe. His dissension caused Cybertron to shudder and caused its first moon to be torn asunder. In the battle against Mortilus, Epistemus was stripped bare and turned into a brain module. Mortilus would be defeated though the Guiding Hand was forever shattered but their legacy lived on in their gifts to future generations of Cybertronians. Epistemus' gift would be that of intellect which aided his inheritors in the Knights of Cybertron. Primus: You, Me, and Other Revelations
Notes
- Epistemus' name appears to be based on the Greek "epistēmē", meaning knowledge and understanding.
