Autobot Cars are a subgroup from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Autobot Cars are a subgroup of Autobots. They transform into cars, except when they turn into trucks. They are larger than Mini Autobots. This designation was used primarily in reference to the toyline, and was not reflected as an official subgroup within the comics or animation.

The first two years worth of cars were all based on Diaclone toy molds. The 1986 releases were original molds based on character designs from The Transformers: The Movie.

Conversely, the Decepticons had their own generic designation of Decepticon Planes for the line of toys that turned into jets. The canonical group term "Seeker" includes most of the Decepticon Planes. However, the Plane subgroup also included Cyclonus and Scourge in 1986, both of whom were absorbed into the Targetmaster subgroup in 1987.
