- Trepan's Trigger is a mnemonic effect from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Named after the mnemosurgeon Trepan, Trepan's Trigger is an effect where a certain phrase mnemonically embedded in someone's memories will provoke a certain response. The type of response the person has depends on the type of memories the phrase is tied to.

Chromedome was first seen using the process of Trepan's Trigger when he was going through Overlord's memories aboard the Lost Light. Remembrance Day
The effect of the Trigger was first actually seen when Rodimus uttered his favorite phrase at the hands of Overlord, causing the phase sixer to falter.
