Spume crystals are a mineral from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Spume crystals are found in the vapor oceans of the planet Spindrift. They can be harvested and refined into a crude form of energon.

During the war, the Autobots and Decepticons fought over Spindrift and its spume crystal resources. Heart of Darkness #3
